Controlling Caries in Elderly Institutionalized Populations

PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR: Chris Wyatt

SUMMARY: This double blind randomized clinical trial aims to assess the clinical efficacy of daily chlorhexidine and fluoride mouth rinses for reducing the incidence of caries over two years in an institutionalized population of elders who are at particular risk to caries.

The overall aim is to reduce the impact and cost of dental care in this population by replacing difficult and expensive dental treatment with a practical and inexpensive preventive regimen of care.
